JOB DESCRIPTION FOR CAD / PDS / PDMS (COORDINATOR / ADMINISTRATOR)
LOCATION: AJMAN, UAE
DEPARTMENT: PIPING
POSITION HOLDER REPORTS TO: DISCIPLINE MANAGER / ENGINEERING MANAGER / PROJECT MANAGER (OR PROJECT ENGINEER)
ROLE : Supervise & Administrate all 3D CAD activities, provide training to designers, develop & maintain multidiscipline catalogues, install & maintain various modules of 3D software.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist the Project Engineer/Lead Engineer in the planning and development of the 3D CAD engineering documents,
engineering schedules and budgets and continuous monitoring of these documents.
• Perform Administration activities of 3D CAD software not limited to database management, clash manager setup,
draft setup and cataloguing.
• Coordinate with multidiscipline designers for component requests.
• Coordinate with VPRM (or equivalent) and Materials lead for MTO and cataloguing activities.
• Develop macros to customise 3D operating environment.
• Provide training to designers to effectively use the software and resolve their queries.
• Provide training to designers for software upgrades.
• Familiarize himself with upcoming global developments in his jurisdiction and inform Discipline Manager/Engineering
Manager about the same.
• Co-ordinate, control and supervise all 3D work carried out for the project by his group.
• Ensure technical adequacy of engineering and design consistent with economy, good engineering practice, safety in
design and specific requirements of the project.
• He must also ensure that all information is well documented & of high quality as per project standards.
• In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by the
supervisor/manager from time to time.
MINIMUM TECHNICAL/ PROFESSIONAL / JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to all staff engaged on the project in his group.
• Thoroughly understand the contractual scope of work and raise variation requests for any work not covered as part of the work scope but is required to be undertaken for job completion.
• Risk identification and management.
• Be aware of the Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) aspects of the work.
• Maintain effective interface with other groups and engineering disciplines in order to achieve project and company goal.
• Maintain cordial relations with Client.
• Provide motivation and leadership to staff together with full support to Engineering Manager/ Project Manager/Lead Engineer in performance analysis and development of staff assigned to the team.
• Should have about 15 years of experience in 3D CAD activities for Offshore / refinery installations/ oil and gas facilities/ LNG storage and re-gasification terminals with minimum 8 years in 3D-PDMS/PDS administration.
• Should have experience in setting up of projects in 3D-PDMS/PDS environment and creating multidiscipline catalogues not limited to Piping, Civil, Instruments, Electrical and HVAC.
• Should be able to develop & review 3D CAD design basis, modelling work procedure, model review design basis.
• Must have hands on experience in creating drafts , ADP (Automatic drawing production), isometric generation, clash management, reporting, etc.
• Must have knowledge of interface software for MTO, support modelling, etc.
• Familiar with work related codes and standards.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• Should have at least a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical engineering from a recognised University.
