| POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for obtaining products and services from suppliers at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, customer requirements, reliability of source and urgency on need. Analyzes quotations received, selects or recommends suppliers and schedules deliveries. Prepares orders and follows up to expedite delivery and shipment
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Coordinates source information among procurement, requisitioning department, finance, quality control and other organizations to facilitate timely purchasing actions. Obtains purchasing requirements from various departments throughout PDMC
· Maintains knowledge of market trends, interviews vendors and recommends sources of supply.
· Obtains and analyzes quotations and selects the best source to meet company needs, quality, and delivery schedules
· Contacts and Orders materials from suppliers and vendors. Purchases parts, components, materials, equipment and services in support of Company requirements
· Negotiates purchasing terms and conditions.
· Schedules delivery of ordered materials.
· Performs follow and expedites delivery and shipment to meet department needs and manufacturing schedules.
· Obtains certifications of delivery and conducts check against purchase orders.
· Checks and approves invoices for orders placed and forwards to accounts payable.
· Checks for proper approval levels on major purchases
· Keeps management informed on status of purchase order requests
· Seeks and develops new sources of supply
· Develops and maintains necessary records and files.
· Participates in the development of purchasing policies and procedures

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
¨ Bachelor of Science or Arts (B.S. or B.A. degree) or equivalent experience required.
EXPERIENCE/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
¨ Five (5) years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
¨ Strong negotiation skills with proven record.
¨ Some import/export knowledge.
¨ Extensive experience of supply chain management.
¨ Requires knowledge of purchasing procedures and suppliers.
¨ Requires intermediate knowledge of word processing, database, and spreadsheet software.
¨ Attentive to detail and well organized.
¨ Competent verbal and written communication skills.
¨ Ability to use standard office equipment such as faxes, copiers, ten-key, calculators, and printers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING ENVIRONMENT
¨ This position frequently requires the employee to sit with occasional standing and walking. Hand deftness and the capacity to extend and reach with arms is also imperative.
¨ Ablity to push, pull, and carry between 10-15 pounds. Some kneeling and climbing may be required.
¨ Ability to communicate and respond verbally and in writing to groups and individuals.
¨ Able to read and analyze computer screens and hard copy data.
¨ Excellent quantitative skills and the ability to work with small numerical print for an extended period of time.
