Tyco Electronics is the world's largest manufacturer of passive and electronic components. TE supplies network infrastructure components and systems. About 850 people are stationed in Kessel-Lo near Leuven (BE).
Function & Role Description
For the department Netconnect we are looking for a driven, enthusiastic Manufacturing Engineer who is responsible for the Coordination/Translation, from R&D-Product Development into Mass Production at the sites of our preferred suppliers, as a project from A-Z.
You define the necessary tools (moulds, (testing) tools, …) for bringing the products into manufacturing, you monitor also the financial aspects, you train the operators (to be sure the product is well introduced & manufactured in the right way in the production process) and you coordinate the whole project. (PS: The real technical specification of each tool will be done by a specialist at TE)
You take care of the offers, purchasing and the transfer/move of the tools to the production plant
You offer your experience and support to implement product and process improvement actions (starting as from the DFM-phase)
Since the production process of most of our products is outsourced, you have a lot of external contacts, e.g. with the developing engineers (mostly in Spain), the equipment engineering people at the production plant(s), etc.
In case of complaints, your cooperation is required in the analysis of the cause and you also define the corrective &/or improvement actions
Product- and process improvement actions are implemented by you and also carefully followed up
Since the continuity of the business, there is also a coordinative link to Shanghai & India

Profile
Education, Experience and Specific Requirements:
Preferably Master of Science in Applied Engineering (Ing.) in Electronics / Electro-Mechanics or equivalent by experience. In this last case: relevant industrial experience is definitely required
Min. 3 years of experience in project &/or manufacturing &/or process engineering is a must
Knowledge of datacom (= understand the physical process), data transmission, telecom, … is a big plus
PC skilled: Office and MS Project
Willing to travel at most 6x/year - 1 week max.
Personality & Attitude:
Excellent communicative & project coordination/management skills
Born organiser and coordinator, you also like to take care of the administrative side of the project
You can set priorities and are capable of coordinating different projects at the time
Open minded for new/better ideas; capable of focus on implementation until practical, secure results
Hands on: "Plan, Do, Check & Act" - with a strong technical interest (not afraid to measure sometimes too)
Striving for a win-win situation for both supplier as TE
Autonomous worker, initiative taker, sense of ownership
Out of the box thinker, good free wheeler & brain stormer with capacity to put ideas into working results and at least some degree of maturity are important pluses
Team player with strong technical skills to solve problems arising on the floor
Initiative taker, striving for continuous improvement
Willing to build up this role and wanting to stay within it for approx. min. 5 years min
Languages:
English must be (almost) perfect, both written as orally
Dutch is optional, but definitely a huge plus
