Tyco Electronics is the world's largest manufacturer of passive and electronic components. TE supplies network infrastructure components and systems. About 850 people are stationed in Kessel-Lo near Leuven (BE).
Function & Role Description
For the department Netconnect we are looking for a driven, enthusiastic Process Quality Engineer for the monitoring and support of our suppliers regarding the quality of the products (e.g. copper cables, mould products, sheet metal, …).
You take care of the quality monitoring and securing of the processes for our products, manufactured within the production sites of our suppliers, by means of a variety of tasks:
You measure supplier performance and define, evaluate, steer, correct and secure the adequacy of the quality techniques & plans at the production sites of our suppliers
You support the application of these quality techniques and correct wherever necessary to continuously improve the quality of our new and existing products
You set up the specific inspection plans for incoming products
You execute quality audits on site and also look at it from systems level in the company
You formulate (preventive) actions for improvement, implement them and follow them up
In case of complaints, you do the technical and administrative handling. You are prepared to execute tests, trace and analyse the cause of mainly functional quality problems
While doing this, you are in continuous contact with the quality service of the suppliers and with the internal departments at TE (Product Management, R&D, Purchasing, Logistics, Sales, …)
You also represent Quality in the Triangle Meetings with Logistics & Purchasing for formal follow up of the suppliers
Profile
Education, Experience and Specific Requirements:
Preferably Master of Science in Applied Engineering (Ing.) in Electronics / Electro-Mechanics / Physics or equivalent by experience - but than really great technical insight and proven process improvement record &/or within a manufacturing/production &/or B2B environment, … is definitely required
Min. 5 years of experience in technical quality &/or process quality/engineering improvement is a must
Knowledge of and experience with TQM techniques is a must: MSA,5Why, Process FMEA, DoE, ISO 9001, …
Experience with Minitab is a plus
PC skilled: Office and MS Project
Willing to travel: 25-30%, mostly in EU (especially the first years - later also Asia), mostly short trips of approx. 1 week (also depending on your agility and willingness to communicate via other communication media)
Personality & Attitude:
Strong personality with excellent communicative skills
Open minded for new/better ideas; capable of focus on implementation until practical, secure results
Hands on "Plan, Do, Check & Act" with a strong technical interest
Far less 'administration', 'control' or 'history writing' minded - far more 'improvement' focused
Striving for a win-win situation for both supplier as TE
Autonomous worker, initiative taker, sense of ownership
Out of the box thinker, good free wheeler & brain stormer with capacity to put ideas into working results
Sense of persuasion and big maturity

Strong analytical skills

Languages:
English must be (almost) perfect, both written as orally
Dutch is optional, but definitely a huge plus
