Job description:
The Driver/Transportation Manager will supervise approximately 20 drivers and will be responsible for all day-to-day routing and fleet maintenance. The successful candidate will carry out these functions, playing a critical role in fostering the supply chain relationship through the accurate and timely pick up and delivery of services to maximize cash flow. The Driver/Transportation Manager will act ethically and honestly to identify opportunities for the growth and improvement of our client organization.


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Supervise approximately 20 drivers to ensure routes are efficiently completed
Daily use of Roadshow and a Route Manager system
Communicate with internal sales representatives regarding client issues
Approve working hours and maintain information in a database
Verify information entered into the drivers log book
Authorize and challenge questionable charges or charges for which service have not been rendered and approve invoices for payment
Negotiate price and service agreements with suppliers
Provide support for Health and Safety
Assist Management team with special projects
Provide improvement suggestions to Leaders and team members
Train drivers and solve issues with handheld computers
Request Commercial Vehicle Owner Registration (CVOR) and Driver Abstract on a quarterly basis
Lead, coach and motivate employees
Assist Team with vacation coverage
Provide performance behaviour and/or disciplinary discussion measures as required
