POSITION SUMMARY
The main objective of the Network Performance Engineering (NPE) team is to provide stellar and innovative solutions for network performance of global RIM applications and interface with all RIM locations and RIM partners while managing the ongoing change of application environment performance (network certification).
The NPE team is an integral part of the Corporate Data Network team which delivers global network infrastructure and security solutions to the internal RIM customer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate's responsibilities will also include:
• Experience in developing end-to-end performance models, identifying bottlenecks, and identifying solutions
• Knowledge and experience in implementing network monitoring techniques, establishing appropriate metrics, and developing plans to avoid network performance issues in a proactive way
• Able to use NetQoS metrics to ensure correct behavior of our network
• Clear understanding of QoS tuning of internal (LAN) and external (WAN/Vendor) networks
• Accountable for overall global network performance improvement solutions for RIM applications
• Work in concert with Corporate Data Network Teams and multiple IT teams to deliver solutions to complex applications
• Implement new solution deployments
• Work with customers to identify new opportunities or solutions to ensure efficient network transactions
• Create and enhance a network application performance testing lab
• Work closely with QA team to ensure that network performance is considered in application business decisions
• Mentor, coach and develop team members to achieve higher levels of performance and job mastery, through KPI's other metrics and processes
• Identify and solve technical and business concerns for customers
• Ensure influence and adherence to internal programs (ISO, ITIL…)
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Knowledge of network performance assessment techniques, tools, and testing approaches
• Ability to work with application planners and developers to develop end-to-end solutions which provide the user community with excellent performance on a global basis
• Ability to communicate effectively with the customer base to describe overall network plans and to develop an understanding of application needs
• Results oriented with strong organization, time management, and superior team building skills
• Proven ability to work under pressure with demonstrated coaching skills
• Advanced organizational, communication, project management, negotiation and technical problem solving skills
• A commitment to customer satisfaction and the ability to anticipate customer's needs and develop appropriate solutions
• Ability to grow relationships with key customer contacts and understand their business needs
• Ability to develop and enhance processes, procedures and documentation
• High degree of self-motivation, self-management and professionalism
• Above average verbal and written communication skills to communicate to a wide variety of audiences
