The Clinical Pharmacology Unit is the worldwide clinical research unit of Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research & Development (J&J PRD). The unit is modernly equipped and works by order of all Research & Development units of J&J, including J&J PRD, Tibotec and Centocor Ortho Biotech.
Function details: This person will work closely together with the sponsor, fellow physicians, and a multidisciplinary team on the execution of early (phase 1 + 2A) clinical drug development studies in subjects (healthy volunteers and patients) regarding new molecule testing emanating from J&J. The research covers the therapeutic fields targeted by J&J, including diseases of the central nervous system (psychiatry and neurology), pain, oncology, inflammation, cardiovascular, immune system, and metabolic and infectious diseases.
Expectations for this role include:
• Serve as Principle Investigator for assigned trials.
• Fulfill all (Co-) Investigator responsibilities per ICH-GCP and local regulations.
• Participate in the review of research proposals and the acceptance for execution.
• Share medical and scientific expertise with peers.
• Design and implement relevant education and training programs for peers and nursing staff.
• Participate in the monitoring and management of safety and well-being of participating subjects.
• Make an active contribution towards the continuous improvement in quality, compliance and capabilities.
• Interact with business partners, academia, medical specialists and the Ethics Committee.
• Contribute to effective teamwork.
Education and qualifications:
• M.D. degree recognized by the Belgian government.
• Completed medical specialty training in Neurology, Cardiology, Anesthesiology, Internal Medicine, or other relevant field is preferred but not essential.
• Certification for Clinical Electrocardiography and Advance Life Support are a strong asset.
• A minimum of 3 years experience in a clinical research position in an academically-based research institute, a contract research organization or within the pharmaceutical industry is absolutely required.
• A demonstrable strong commitment to clinical drug research is required.
• PC literate.

Languages:
• Fluent in English, both oral and written.
• Commitment to learn Dutch (within 1 year expected to be able to communicate with volunteers and patients).
Mobility/travel: less than 10 % travelling (scientific seminars, …)
