**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., for over 80 years has been providing innovative services, treatment and recovery for more than 18,000 individuals and families annually diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illnesses (many have a co-occurring substance abuse disorder). To further the Clinics’ commitment to state of the art fundraising initiative, PC is seeking a seasoned Chief Development Officer (CDO) to develop, lead and implement an annual fundraising plan with goals, initiatives and metrics. The CDO will foster a culture of philanthropy within the organization and assure that the organization’s corporate culture, systems and procedures support fund development. Primary responsibilities for this position include supporting the Board of Directors and in cultivating and securing major gifts, overseeing the fundraising objectives including individual, corporate, foundation, events-based and web-based fundraising, managing the development staff, and participating in a highly committed executive management team. The CDO will coordinate with the Public Affairs department and will report to the Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer with coordinate reporting relationship with the President and CEO. The chosen candidate will have a proven track record of fundraising results in the Southern California market.
The Chief Development officer will have demonstrated experience in managing and implementing a comprehensive fund development program, producing charitable contributions and is expected to be a highly competent enabler of volunteers and staff, and have experience working with multi-cultural communities. Comprehensive management skills and experience are required including but not limited to short and long-term planning, evaluation, directing and motivating staff, oral and written communication skills, marketing and financial management, values clarification, organizational behavior and development, and governance.

Requirements
Knowledge and experience in the following areas is required: the nature and dimensions of philanthropy, ethics, motivations for giving and volunteering, research and cultivation practices, standard fundraising techniques including face-to-face solicitation, proposal writing, special events, telephone solicitation, and direct mail, and, development office functions including gift processing, prospect and donor histories, and fundraising reporting (knowledge of sustainable funding systems/approaches preferred). Demonstrated experience, expertise and confidence in asking people to contribute time and money required. High level proficiency in the use of information technologies including Microsoft applications (Word, Excel and Power Point), internet research and experience with donor databases required, Fundraising 50 (FR50) preferred.
Bachelors degree in related field, and a minimum 7 years fundraising experience in a senior professional position required. Baseline certification in fund raising, the CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Professional) is preferred. Must possess a valid California driver's license and maintain an insurable driving record under the Clinics' liability policy.
