Client employs about 200 people worldwide, about half of whom work in the head office in Hilversum, the Netherlands. The other half is spread over offices in China, Poland, Germany, and England. Our mission is to ensure we’re putting out the best content for each of our target audiences and local (language) markets, and we work with the best game and platform designers to ensure this. But, we’re creators as well as networkers, and we also put our own spin on the trends we see in the gaming market by making our own games, too!
The Job
Development of our gaming portals is not an end in itself but a means to meet the high quality standards for which we strive. Whether it is discussing designs, creating and testing code, or delivering the finished product, client offers abundant challenges for a strong specialist in the web development field. For this reason, we seek a PHP and C/C++ Developer with at least 5 years of experience in a computing environment. The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about finding creative solutions using PHP/MySQL as well as extending existing (some open-source) products written in C/C++.
You must have experience with developing robust applications in a hosted software model. You will be highly involved in the development and support of the services behind our gaming portals. You will work with the Development Director and IT Architecture department and other Development Team members to create updated services. Additionally, you will:
• Develop and support database-driven web services using PHP and MySQL;
• Use knowledge and experience to provide technical assistance in identifying, evaluating, and resolving complex problems;
• Work with Project Managers to plan and monitor schedules and assignments;
• Work in a team environment as well as independently to get the job done with minimum supervision.
We ask
• 5+ years experience in a computing environment
• 3+ years of both PHP and C/C++development experience
• Minimal HBO/Bachelor’s level
• Experience developing in a Linux/Unix environment
• Experience working with source control like SVN
• Experienced in MySQL database development and maintenance, including extensive experience with optimizing queries and indexes
• Good knowledge of Internet computing platforms
• Strong problem solving and time management skills
• Solid oral and written communication skills in Dutch and English
• Experience in complex project environments
• You are friendly person with a great attitude and look forward to going to work on a daily basis
