Marketing Director Position Responsibilities
Direct overall marketing and strategic planning programs, and corporate communications. Facilitate client development through marketing and client services programs.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Company Strategy
As member of the management team, co-defines and jointly executes the strategy of the company within the corporate guidelines.
2. Marketing and Communication Strategy
Responsible for optimally implementing brand strategy in line with the agreed brands portfolio and the global strategic corporate guidelines.
Defines and steers marketing program with focus on media, consumer promotion, PR and defines marketing guidelines for POS.
Responsible for the excellence of execution of media advertising
Lead and decide on media planning. He/she leads and decides on the local assortment strategy. He/she ensures the generation of consumer insights in line with the “In Touch” process.
3. Marketing Plan
Responsible for developing and defining the annual marketing plan of each brand based on local and international guidelines to achieve objectives as set in the ABP.
Contributes to the development of sales and trade marketing plans.
Ensures a continuous co-ordination in the planning process with Sales, Controlling, Operations, the General Manager and corporate functions.
4. Brands Performance and Development
Ensures achievement of required brand performance (market share, brand equity, etc.) via reliable monitoring of brand development against sales/profit forecast and budgets.
Continuously seek and ensure assessment of marketing opportunities for further enhancement of brand performance and development, initiating and ensuring proper processes of launches and re-launches.
5. Sales
Responsible together with Sales Director (and sales organization) to achieve targets in market shares, distribution, sales and margins.
Implement the local pricing strategy.
6. Marketing Budget Control
Ensure profitability of each brand in line with set target levels.
Monitor actual / planned marketing expenditures against budget and aims at the optimal performance of return on investment.
Control and monitor the marketing and sales activities and initiates measures to address deviations of plan if indicated.
7. Market Development and Competitors Activities
Analyze market share performance versus competitive activities.
Provides International Brand Leadership Unit (BLU) with all relevant information about the market development.
8. Personnel Management
Lead, encourage and motivate the personnel in sphere of responsibility (especially targeting, coaching, personnel interview and appraisal, succession and deputy planning, and personnel development in cooperation with HR department).
Ensure the transfer of the BDF management approach as well as functional know-how to the team.
9. Legally Binding Representation
As a member of the management team, represents legally binding according to the statutes of the company, the country civil code and the commercial code towards third parties, supervisory board and shareholders.
10. Specific accountabilities
Job Requirements
Relevant working experience in multinational company (FMCG industry).
Experienced marketing executive with at least 10 years of on-the-job experience (at least 5 years with multinational companies), of which at least 3 years have been spent in strategic brand management positions, including development of mid- to long-term brand and portfolio strategies as well as development of brand communication and innovation strategies.
X-functional working experience (e.g. sales, trade marketing), at least x-functional experience during trainee program
Experience in leading a large team
Bachelor degree or above
Fluent in Chinese (preferred: native speaker, Chinese local), fluent in English
Enthusiastic and performance driven/ambitious leader, yet down-to-earth and pragmatic
