Job Description: Estimator – Aluminum Curtain Wall Industry
a)General
• To direct estimation of a project considering all requirements of a project
• Recommend competitive price to maximize chances of getting a project.
• Candidate should have knowledge and experience in costing aluminum curtain wall (stick/unitized system), aluminum doors & window, aluminum composite panel cladding, metal fabrication work etc.
•Ability to review the architectural drawings and project specification.
•Perform take-off for curtain wall/cladding etc. from the architectural drawings and prepare Bill of Quantity.
•Complete the estimate with breakdown of individual components (i.e. Aluminum, Glass, Gaskets, Thermal break etc.)
•Must have strong computer literacy and knowledge of AutoCAD.
b)Education
Degree in Civil Engineering/ Architecture/ Q.S.
c)Technical Experience and exposure required:
•With at least 5 years working experience in Curtain Wall Industry.
•Should have Technical know how or background of aluminum and glass.
•Should have at least min. 3 years experience in the field or project execution.
•Can work independently with a minimal supervision and has the ability to work under pressure
•The candidate should have knowledge of international facade systems like Gutmann, Schuco,Technal etc.
•The candidate should have engineering background in construction industry
d)IT Exposure – Should be strong in computers.
e)Job Description and Job Accountabilities:
•Develop costing strategy and manage timely estimation of a project; evaluate risk of price hikes considering local/international pricing trends and currency fluctuations to hedge risk of loss by the time project materializes and completed.
•Liaise with consultants/contractors through Commercial Manager to seek clarifications on projects.
•Influence purchase strategy by identifying new/replacement products and new suppliers to ensure optimum tender/project prices; ensure best tender prices by negotiating quotations with suppliers as per project specifications and quality standards.
•Propose technical alternatives within the scope of project specifications to reduce project cost and increase utilization of in-house capabilities.
•Review project costing, ensure project specifications and special requirements are incorporated correctly; coordinate with superior/management for giving mark-ups and quote price for project.
•Co-ordinate with Sales and other market sources to get reliable and up-to-date MIS such as budget price to come up with a competitive offer.
•Brief the Sales for all “Job on Hand/for Negotiation” projects and provide overview about scope of the projects and our consideration of offer.
•Review enquires from Sales and direct strategy for re-calculation/estimation.
•Co-ordinate with other department for every awarded project, to ensure that the materials considered during tender stage are being followed to make a profitable outcome.
•Provide project cost analysis for all on-going projects to Finance Department for their information for their monitoring use in purchasing materials and man-hour allotment.
•To come up with a good and competitive price and it requires deep study and knowledge of the project.
•To get reliable suppliers with attractive/ competitive offer.
•To understand that any error/ mistake occurred during tender stage will affect or will have a big impact during execution
•Internal:
Daily contacts with the estimators to make sure that the required output has been met. Regular contacts with the Sales and discuss all submitted quotation for negotiation purposes.
•External:
Regular contacts with suppliers to obtain competitive price and to make sure their quotation will arrive on time. Regular contacts with the Client/ Contractors/ Consultant to get proper information regarding the project.
•Attend pre-bid/ negotiation meeting together with the Sales for finalization of project with the approval of the C.E.O.
•Negotiate prices for various suppliers
