Position Description
Business Intelligence comprises a large and interesting field that is increasing in importance for the firm in order to better leverage resources and maximize earnings. With our customer base rapidly growing and Business Intelligence driving more and more processes, we are expanding our Enterprise Business Intelligence Services (EBIS) Development and Engineering team. The team is fast paced, dynamic, results oriented and currently handles all Development and Engineering matters related to the 3rd party products Business Objects, ProClarity, PerformancePoint Server and other emerging products in the space. Engineering these products for the require scale, throughput and availability as well as writing code from simple scripts to full custom backend implementations in C# and Java are within the teams responsibility. The successful candidate is a team player with good communication skills, possesses a high degree of technical problem solving ability and is excited about new technology. Strong experience with Windows server technologies is a must. Responsibilities include: + Creating conceptual and detailed designs for the components being developed or integrated into the environment + Reviewing designs with team members + Installing / upgrading / patching vendor (server and client) software products + Balance time to market of new features and stability + Working with the Business side to understand their needs and define how our infrastructure will meet those needs + Working with other internal infrastructure teams to develop, build, manage and problem-solve + Assessments of new technologies, implementation of proof-of-concept prototypes + Participating in teams level 3 “on-call” rotation (including occasional weekend work) + Problem management + Provisioning controls and monitoring for server environment + Working with vendor to resolve problems and enhancements + Software release management + All members of the team are required to perform weekend work and after hours work as and if necessary.
Skills Required
Minimum 5-8 years of professional IT experience (preferably working within an information technology organization) + Solid understanding of IIS and Windows server technologies + Strong Windows experience both in working with the operating system and in the installation of enterprise software packages. + Scripting skills + Technical fluency in written/spoken English + Good troubleshooting and problem solving skills + Ability to multitask and work independently
Skills Desired
· Working experience with at least one programming language + Experience with IIS Administration including configuration and management of the servers. + Experience with administration of Windows 2003 servers + Knowledge of Business Objects and PerformancePoint + Sybase or Microsoft SQL Server database experience + Past experience working with a range of Data Integration/Business Intelligence products, preferably involved in installation and operational management (especially Informatica; Crystal Reports; ProClarity; Crystal Enterprise and/or QlikView) + OLAP and Microsoft Analysis Services + NetCool alerting and monitoring + Exposure to 64-bit hardware architecture + Exposure to 64-bit operating systems
